Comparative Evaluation of Microleakage in Class II Cavity in Primary Molars Restored With Glass Ionomer Cement, Zirconomer, and Cention N Using Stereomicroscope: An In Vitro Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: Microleakage is defined as the passage of bacteria, fluid, molecules or ions between cavity walls and restorative material. There are limited studies in literature that have compared microleakage newer materials. Therefore, aim this study to compare evaluate Class II primary molars restored with glass ionomer cement, zirconomer cention N using stereomicroscope. Method: Standardized cavities were prepared on extracted All samples divided into 3 experimental groups follows: Group I- GIC (GC Universal Restorative); II- Zirconomer (SHOFU Inc., Kyoto, Japan) III- Cention-N (Ivoclar Vivadent). The teeth thermocycled, immersed methylene blue dye sectioned along mesiodistal direction. penetration at occlusal surface cervical was evaluated a stereo-microscope. Data analysed Krushal-Wallis test (Non-parametric ANOVA). Results: Among three materials, Cention showed least both surface. Conclusion: material displayed lesser Zirconomer.

A Comparative Evaluation of Microleakage of Glass Ionomer Cement and Chitosan-modified Glass Ionomer Cement: An in vitro Study

OBJECTIVE To do a comparative study of microleakage of glass ionomer cement (GIC) and chitosan modified glass ionomer cement and evaluate which exhibited lesser microleakage. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty freshly extracted sound primary molar teeth were obtained. Two groups of samples were created for the study which comprised of group I (glass ionomer cement-GIC) and group II (Chitosan modifie...

In-Vitro Evaluation of Microleakage of Class II Cavities Restored with Bulk-Fill Flowable Composite

Background and Aim: Composite placement poses many challenges, especially in the gingival floor with dentinal margins. Microleakage is one of the factors affecting the longevity of dental restorations. We aimed to compare the microleakage of cavities filled with bulk-fill composite at enamel and dentinal margins. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, a total of 102 sound human pre...

Clinical evaluation of a glass ionomer cement in primary molars.

PURPOSE The aim of the study was to evaluate the clinical performance of a high powder:liquid ratio self-cure glass ionomer cement in the restoration of primary molars. METHODS Fuji IX GP (GC International, Tokyo, Japan) was used to restore 129 carious cavities (56 1-surface; 73 2-surface) in 69 patients of mean age 6 y 7 mo. Approximal cavities were prepared with a slot only design, and all ...

Microleakage Evaluation of Class II Composite Resin Restorations with Different Thicknesses of Resin-Modified Glass Ionomer

Background and Aim: One of the weaknesses of Class II composite resin restorations is gingival microleakage which contributes to postoperative sensitivity and secondary caries. The aim was to evaluate the microleakage in Class II composite resin restorations with different thicknesses of resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI). Materials and Methods: In this in-vitro study, standardized Class II s...

Comparative Evaluation of Microleakage of Zirconomer, Amalgomer CR, and Conventional Glass Ionomer

Over the past 50 years, many changes have occurred in restorative materials in development and on availability.1 Restorative dentistry, in its infancy, was dominated by the simple principle of “Extension for Prevention,” laid down by GV Black and which was partially dictated by the restorative material available at that time.2 Restoration in primary teeth differs from the permanent teeth becaus...
